Jennifer Saunders Cast In New Sharon Horgan Sitcom
Comedienne joins Dead Boss.
Jennifer Saunders is to star in a new BBC Three murder mystery comedy, Dead Boss. Scripted by Sharon Horgan (Pulling) and hipster darling, Holly Walsh, the six-part series headlines Horgan as Helen Stephens, a woman who finds herself falsely imprisoned for murdering her boss. Whilst in Broadmarsh Prison, Stephens fights to prove her innocence by finding her boss's real killer.
"We're thrilled to see our show," say Horgan and Walsh in the press release, "which we've spent the last decade and a half writing, coming to life with such a ridiculously talented cast and under the direction of a visionary like [director] Steve Bendelack."
Saunders will play Margaret, the governor of Broadmarsh Prison, alongside Geoff McGivern (Ford Prefect in the radio Hitchhiker's) as Helen's hopeless lawyer, and Bryony Hannah (Call The Midwife) as Helen's arsonist cellmate.
Filming is already underway and the series is set to air later this Spring. Let's hope BBC Three love it a little bit more than Horgan's previous sitcom Pulling, which they canned when rebranding themselves to make room for more Snog, Marry, Avoid.
