Peter Halliday

Peter Halliday, who starred in various Classic Who stories, has died at the age of 87.

He appeared four times in the show, as Packer in The Invasion and Pletrac in Carnival Of Monsters. He's also the guard who Tom Baker punches (well, if you pretend his fist touched his chin) in City Of Death and the Vicar in Remembrance Of The Daleks. He also provided alien voices for Doctor Who And The Silurians and The Ambassadors Of Death.

Outside of Who, he was probably best known for playing the scientist John Fleming in the BBC's SF series A For Andromeda (1961) and its sequel, The Andromeda Breakthrough (1962). His final acting job was as a vicar in the 2005 movie, Lassie.

You can read his Guardian obituary here.
